How CabSplit handles your data

What other travellers see

Your public name (an anonymous alias unless you choose a display name), the area you're heading to, party size, bags, when you'll be ready, languages, and your verification badges. Nothing else.

What stays private

Your email, password, the passenger name, seat and booking reference from your boarding pass. These are never shown to other travellers.

Mutual consent

Chat only exists after both of you agree. Requests expire after 30 minutes. Declines are never shown as rejections.

No location tracking

Your destination is an area you choose by hand. CabSplit never asks for your location.

Retention

Conversations are deleted 90 days after your flight lands. You can remove any trip from your history at any time (the other traveller keeps their copy of a chat until it expires), or delete your whole account from Profile.

Usage statistics

To improve CabSplit we count which pages and features are used (for example "joined a flight" or "sent a request"), on our own server, with no advertising or third-party trackers. We never record message text, names on boarding passes, emails or booking references, and these statistics are deleted after 12 months.

Safety

You can block or report anyone. Reports go to the CabSplit safety team, who can see the reported conversation to investigate.
